Travel Advisory

December 20, 2024

Bridge replacement activity is scheduled for the next three (3) weeks, weather permitting, as follows:

Roadway and Sidewalk Information

  • ALLOW EXTRA TRAVEL TIME ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 23
    Due to scheduled pothole repair, there will be alternating traffic with one lane closed on Rumson Road (CR 520) from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, 12/23.
  • All roadway and sidewalk travelers should be aware of construction and delivery vehicles entering and exiting the work areas on both sides of Rumson Road (CR 520) in Rumson and on the southbound side of Ocean Avenue (Route 36) in Sea Bright.
  • Temporary delays are possible on any Contractor workday due to movement of construction vehicles and equipment.
  • The south side (eastbound) sidewalk of the bridge is closed.

Waterway Information

  • The eastern half of the navigational channel is available for marine travel.
  • The horizontal clearance for the eastern side has been reduced to 35 feet at the roadway level. The anticipated end date of the reduced restriction is 1/24/25, weather permitting.
  • Below the roadway level, the horizontal clearance on the eastern side of the channel remains at 37.5 feet.
  • The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel and has granted permission for full and partial closures the Contractor needs to install the two new bridge spans.
  • Please see the Public Notice Update – 11/8/24 for the list of anticipated full and partial closure dates through Spring 2025. Monmouth County must comply with the dates approved by the USCG.
  • Dates are subject to change based on weather conditions and production factors.
